Golf Resources - Agronomy

One of the most used golf resources by superintendents is the USGA. The USGA Green Section is dedicated to helping golf courses maintain their turf. A real wealth of free information from disease issues, fertility down to the right sand composition for bunkers.

The National Turfgrass Evaluation Program is a research organization dedicated to studying the latest turfgrass varieties and comparing them to existing standards as well as looking as disease and pest resistance. This website provides the latest results from their research.

Now that you have your putting green, you'll need a beautiful landscape to go with it. As a superintendent I have always relied on a horticulturalist to take care of the flower beds and plantings. I have found similar advice on the web that you can use. This web site has expert information on flowers, plants, and general gardening advice from a professional landscape contractor with over 25 years experience.

Another great site for landscaping information as well as other home improvements:
DIY Home Tips offers information and tips for do-it-yourself (DIY) at home, including landscaping, lawn care, home improvement, energy savings, and more.

Do you need help designing the rest of your landscape and fitting the golf into it? Here is a great DIY landscaping site with simple landscape architecture advice. I have seen some terrible golf greens, not because of how the green itself looks, but because of how poorly if fits into its surroundings. This site should help out:
